Before we get to the next super Saturday, let’s take a look at Estonia’s entry for Eurovision 2024. After 2 voting rounds 10 acts made it to the final of Eesti Laul. In the final a 50/50 jury ant televote decided which 3 acts would advance to the super-final. They were Ollie, who won the jury vote, 5Miinust & Puuluup, who won the televote and Nele-Liis Vaiksoo. In the end 5Miinust & Puuluup won the final televote round which earned them the right to represent Estonia in Eurovision coming May.
Estonia at Eurovision
Estonia made their debut at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994. They had intentions of debuting the year before, but the EBU installed a qualification round for 7 former Eastern Bloc countries who were all hoping to debut. However they did not qualify. Their first ever entry was “Nagu Merelaine” by Silvi Vrait. Unfortunately her song ended second last with just 2 points. Despite their failed first attempt Estonia managed to reach the top ten 6 times in their first 8 tries, making them one of the more successful countries of the late 90s. They have won the contest once so far, in 2001, with the song “Everybody” by Tanel Padar, Dave Benton and 2XL. They reached third place the year after on home soil.
Since then however, Estonia have no longer been able top get a top 5 result. Since the introduction of the semi finals in 2004, they have managed to qualify for the grand final 9 times. However it took them 6 years to qualify for the first time, in 2009 with the song “Rändajad” by Urban Symphony. A fan favorite which would go on to finish 6th in the final with 129 points. In the last 10 years, they reached the top ten 3 times, the most recent one being last year with Alika and her power ballad “Bridges”. They are the most successful Baltic state at this moment in time.
Estonia 2024
This year Estonia are giving us the longest song title in the history of the contest. The song is called (Nendest) Narkootikumidest Ei Tea Me (Küll) Midagi (watch our own Niall try and pronounce it in our reaction video underneath this article). It roughly translates to We (sure) know nothing about (these) drugs. The idea for the song came after a comment by one of the band members made about drugs during a car trip. The artists consist of 2 different bands, 5Miinust and Puuluup who have collaborated for this song. 5Miinust (Estonian for 5 minutes) is a hip hop group from Võsu, who already had 5 number one hits in Estonia. Puuluup is a nu-folk duo who started in 2014.
So how far can Estonia go with this catchy dance track? Will the boys of 5Miinust & Puuluup dance their way into the top 10? Or will they stay behind in the semi of a Eurovision year that is looking to be full of uptempo songs? Find out what we think in our review below! As usual, we have added our totally unbased early predictions!

This has a fun beat and is sure to get the crowd dancing in Malmö. I find it almost impossible to listen to without moving. I love the chaotic energy the whole way through, and although potentially not my normal cup of tea – this is an absolutely solid entry with a ready to go Eurovision package. I am obsessed with the instruments – someone please tell us if they are real or they really listened to ‘Love Love, Peace Peace’ before writing this song?
Unfortunately in this year’s edition, there is a real risk of this getting outshone from the already packed crowd of fun, different, up tempo songs, but I still think Estonia might do well.
Early prediction: 15-20

Estonia have big shoes to fill after Alika’s success. This song though, has grabbed me on first listen and has not let me go since. In fact it has recently crept up into my top 5. It’s definitely the type of song you have to witness live. And their performance at Eesti Laul was just fantastic. The vocals, the fun, the choreo, the interaction between both bands. It was really so much fun to watch. And it’s refreshing seeing something like this coming from Estonia!
I struggle predicting where this will end up, cause as I said above, this year is already packed with fun songs, and it seems like there’s more of that to come. So it’s going to be a question of being memorable enough. If it were just up to me, this would sail through to the final, and reach the top 10. However I fear the juries might vote it down. I wish them all the best, and I shall definitely be dancing in Malmö!
Early prediction: 16-22
